ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Standards
Sicon Group works to three international management standards: ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. Each one governs a different part of how a project is planned, carried out and recorded.
For a client, that shows up as documented procedure rather than verbal assurance: inspection records, method statements, safety files and environmental controls that can be produced on request. Alongside our CIDB registration and industry memberships, these standards are what make a claim about our work checkable.
Our ISO Management System Standards
ISO 9001: 2015
The quality management standard. It requires documented procedures, defined responsibilities, and a record of non-conformances with the corrective action taken, so the same method applies on a single roof or a forty-building portfolio.
ISO 14001: 2015
The environmental management standard. On a roofing site that covers solvent and coating disposal, washdown runoff, and the handling and documented removal of hazardous material such as asbestos cement sheeting.
ISO 45001: 2018
The occupational health and safety standard. It governs hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation, and sits alongside the fall protection plans required for work at height under the Construction Regulations.
Trade Association and Workforce Certificates
SEESA
Labour law, skills development and employment equity support. It means the crew arriving on your site is employed and trained compliantly, which matters to any principal contractor who carries liability for a subcontractor's labour practices.
MBA North (Master Builders Association)
Membership is renewed annually and can be confirmed with the association directly. It also gives a client a route to raise a dispute with an independent body rather than only with the contractor.
SAMCRA (South African Metal Cladding & Roofing Association)
The technical body for metal roofing in South Africa. Its guidance covers profile selection, fixing centres, minimum roof pitch and corrosion categories, which is the detail that decides whether a sheeted roof lasts or fails early.
Coatings and Waterproofing Associations
DWASA (Damp and Waterproofing Association of South Africa)
The technical body for waterproofing. Its code of practice covers substrate preparation, membrane selection and falls to outlets, and it gives a client an independent route to escalate a disputed waterproofing guarantee.
SAPMA (South African Paint Manufacturers Association)
The manufacturers' body. Its guidance covers surface preparation, dry film thickness and recoat intervals, which are the three things that decide whether a roof coating reaches its stated lifespan or fails within a season.
OCCA (Surface Coatings Association of Southern Africa)
A deliberate second membership, not a duplicate of the one beside it. SAPMA represents the companies that make the product; OCCA covers the chemistry behind it, including adhesion, weathering and how a coating system behaves on a metal roof.
Statutory Compliance and Specialist Institutes
PRAWA (Professional Roof Repair and Waterproofing Association)
The association for roof repair rather than replacement. Its members are vetted on workmanship, which matters most on the jobs where a repair is being weighed against a full re-sheet and the cheaper option has to actually hold.
FEM Letter of Good Standing
Issued by Federated Employers Mutual, this confirms our COIDA contributions are paid up and our workers are covered for injury on duty. Most principal contractors will not grant site access without a current one, and it is renewed annually.
Corrosion Institute of Southern Africa
Corrosion is what ends most metal roofs in South Africa, and the rate differs enormously between an inland site and one within a few kilometres of the coast. Institute membership keeps our coating specifications matched to the corrosivity of the actual location.
Individual Accreditation and Client Protection
SEESA Consumer Protection and POPIA
Covers our obligations under the Consumer Protection Act and the Protection of Personal Information Act. In practice that governs how quotations and warranties are worded, and how enquiry details submitted through this site are stored and used.
PRAWA Accredited: Gerhard Denyssen
PRAWA accredits individuals, not only companies. This certificate is held in Gerhard Denyssen's own name, which means the assessment was of one person's competence rather than a company's paperwork.
PRAWA Accredited: Dwain Atterbury
Held in the name of Dwain Atterbury, founder and chief executive of Sicon Group. Accreditation carried at ownership level says something about where technical standards sit in a business. Both accredited members are on our team page.
Why Certifications Matter
A certification is what turns a claim into something a client can check. It is the difference between a contractor saying the work is done properly and being able to show the procedure, the record and the third party who issued the document.
Compliance, Tenders and B-BBEE Recognition
Whether the work is restoring a high-rise industrial roof or waterproofing a commercial structure, the compliance file travels with the contract. Sicon Group is a Level 2 B-BBEE contributor, which gives a client 125% procurement recognition on qualifying spend.
